Guide Review - Murray Sugar Free Chocolate Chip Cookies

The great American classic - chocolate chip cookies. We can all thank Ruth Wakefield for her mistake in the 1930's for all the milk dunking, crumb smacking, and finger licking fun many of us have had with chocolate chip cookies. Without her trying to use milk chocolate chunks instead of baker's chocolate one day, we may be talking about oatmeal or even peanut butter cookies. Regardless, I doubt Ruth would have even conceived that one day her invention would be offered in such a sweet way without a touch of sugar like Murray Sugar Free Chocolate Chip Cookies.

In today's review, I will be looking at Murray Sugar Free Chocolate Chip Cookies. I have been eyeing this product for some time because chocolate chip cookies are such a common snack that I am sure many sugar free followers have been missing them. In addition, I have noticed that Murray has a large selection of cookies that if these sugar free chocolate chip cookies were a success I would be more than willing to give the others a try.

When I first looked at the chocolate chip cookie, I immediately thought it looked like another well-known store bought cookie - Chips Ahoy!. They are similar in size at few inches in diameter and have the same light brown color. The outside texture may have been a little more rough for Chips Ahoy! but they were very similar in presentation. In addition, the Murray Chocolate Chip Cookies were filled similarly to Chips Ahoy! with the size and amount of chocolate chips. Each bite will definitely have a good amount of chocolate chips and thus giving off a nice sweetness. However, while there is a nice sweetness, I would say that the Murray chocolate chip flavor is weaker.

As I continued to munch on more cookies, I noticed that the Murray Sugar Free Chocolate Chip Cookies were lighter and less dense than I expected as they actually felt a little airy. The cookies still had good crunch behind them, but they didn't feel as dense as the Chips Ahoy! brand. I also noticed that there was no artificial aftertaste as I continued on to my next cookie, however, there was a very slight aftertaste that lingered after I stopped eating the cookies. It is not very noticeable but still there.

Overall, I thought the Murray Sugar Free Chocolate Cookies were a good product and like Murray trademarked phrase, "You'll never know they are sugar free!" You can eat them like you would any other chocolate chip cookie with milk or in bunches by themselves (the serving size is 3 cookies). Although, I might hold off on eating too many at a time as the back of the package states that "excessive consumption may lead to a laxative effect." This is likely due to the cookies having sugar alcohol which as we have discussed in the past can lead to upset stomachs. So as long as you enjoy them, but not too much, Murray Sugar Free Chocolate Cookies will not disappoint.
