Guide Review - McDonald's Sugar Free Vanilla Iced Coffee
Around 2008, McDonald’s joined the beverage battle against Starbucks and began offering iced coffees such as hazelnut, caramel, and regular vanilla. It was also a time when McDonald’s was moving toward healthier options, so a sugar free vanilla flavor made perfect sense as it has about 10% the sugar, 50% the calories, and 40% the carbohydrates of the regular version. All of the aforementioned benefits come despite the McDonald’s Sugar Free Vanilla Iced Coffee being every bit the beverage as a regular coffee. It has a light caramel color with smooth texture and consistency. The coffee flavor is solid while the vanilla flavor is pleasantly strong with no artificial aftertaste.
While the overall design and package of McDonald’s Sugar Free Vanilla Iced Coffee is spot on, I have found that consistency in how the product is prepared and delivered is a problem. There have been times that the coffee was burnt or that too much sweetener was added which drastically changed the flavor profile of the beverage. In addition, not all locations offer non-fat or skim milk and will use creamer instead. As a result, ordering McDonald’s Sugar Free Vanilla Iced Coffee can be hit or miss, but if you are able to get it as it was intended the coffee is a sugar free home run.
