Guide Review - Maple Grove Farms Sugar Free Maple Syrup
There’s almost nothing better to wake up to than a big stack of fluffy pancakes (or waffles), with a dab of butter, covered in maple syrup. While maple syrup’s sweetness and flavor help complete the meal, syrup will also add about 200 calories per serving and a lot of sugar. Maple Grove Farms Sugar Free Maple Syrup may be the answer to sweet tooth fans who love their pancakes or waffles but do not want the extra calories or sugar.
Maple Grove Farms Low Calorie Syrup had my husband duped in a non-scientific blind taste test. With in your face maple flavor and a strong sweet aroma, the syrup appears to be right on par with other pancake syrups. It also has a rich caramel color and slightly less viscous texture when compared to genuine maple syrup.
Sweetened with Splenda, the syrup has a smooth taste in the beginning with a slightly off aftertaste when consumed solo; however, when eaten with our blueberry waffles, the taste was much smoother and any artificial flavoring was less noticeable.
When I picked up this syrup I was expecting it to be similar to other artificial pancake syrups. In that respect, the product did not disappoint; with only 30 calories per a ¼ cup serving and 0 grams of sugar, it is a solid alternative to sugared pancake syrup, however, it does not compare to genuine maple syrup.
